Libyan desert glass or Great Sand Sea or Libyan Gold Tektite glass is a rare impactite, made mostly of lechatelierite, the origins of which are still unknown. Libyan Desert Glass is found in areas in the eastern Sahara, in the deserts of eastern Libya and western Egypt and has been dated as having formed about 29 million years ago.
