Volcano Agate forms when silica-rich solutions fill cavities within volcanic rock, slowly crystallising into intricate layers. These stones are believed to support grounding, resilience and personal transformation, while the heart shape is associated with compassion, emotional steadiness and connection. Volcano Agate is a trade name for a variety of Agate which shows traits of Uranyl Chalcedony - where green photoluminescence is detected under short wavelength uv light. The formation of volcanic agates is thought to occur due to late or post volcanic alteration or weathering. During this process, unusually high uranium content is incorporated into the Agate as uranyl ions, believed to be the cause of the stunning greenish photoluminescence occuring within the Chalcedony. Volcano Agate is considered a fiery, transformative energy, often used for deep grounding and balance. It is believed to support motivation, strength and transformation and overcome stagnancy and procrastination.
