Tourmaline is a diverse mineral group that comes in a wide variety of colors. Rubellite is the red or pink variety of tourmaline and is a member of Elbaite - a beryllium aluminum silicate mineral. Varieties of Elbaite include; Rubellite: Pink to red Tourmaline. Indicolite: Blue to bluish-green Tourmaline. Verdelite: Green Tourmaline. Watermelon Tourmaline: Multicolored, with pink centers and green outer layers. Other varieties of Tourmaline include; Schorl (Black Tourmaline), Dravite (Brown Tourmaline), Paraíba Tourmaline (Electric blue to green), Chrome Tourmaline (Intense green) and Achroite (Colorless).
